Health, Safety & Community — A Special Day in Emlichheim
At the end of the summer, the Emsland Group’s headquarters in Emlichheim hosted a day of events that brought together health, safety, and community. Employees enjoyed a diverse program, gained new insights, and shared a successful day together.
HEALTH DAY: SAFETY, FITNESS & WELL-BEING
The morning focused entirely on occupational safety, health, and well-being. Employees could take part in hands-on activities, visit informative stands, and join practical exercises.
The German Red Cross offered valuable first aid training, while a fire drill provided participants with the chance to practice safe fire extinguisher use — an exciting and educational experience. A highlight was the “rollover simulator” from the Lingen traffic safety association, which allowed employees to experience the challenges of escaping from an overturned vehicle.
Cyclists benefited from a road safety course with practical tips for staying safe on the road. Company mobility also got a boost: the company Hesselink repaired company bicycles, while “Kraftvoll” gym shared effective training advice and guided strength and endurance exercises. The AOK health insurer was on hand to discuss health topics and answer questions. The factory canteen rounded out the program with healthy snacks, proving that nutritious food can be both delicious and satisfying.
WORKS MEETING: UPDATES & OUTLOOK
Following Health Day, the works meeting brought the workforce together for company updates. Works council chairman Alfred Weiden opened the session and handed over to CEO Gerrit-Jan Wesselink, who spoke on behalf of management about the company’s current situation.
The plant management and HR department shared updates on production figures, ongoing projects, and employee development. As a gesture of appreciation, all employees will receive a company sweatshirt.
COMPANY PARTY: A RELAXED FINALE
The day concluded with a company party, where colleagues enjoyed a barbecue buffet, cold drink and DJ in a relaxed setting. All in all, it was a thoroughly successful day: the health day, the works meeting, and the company party offered a wide range of opportunities to learn new things, get actively involved, and take away valuable ideas for a healthy and positive working day.
