Emsland Group has implemented a comprehensive sourcing and strategic plan that will allow our customers to realize consistent supply of potato ingredients over a 12 month period or longer along with our consistent quality.
As a full-service provider of potato starch, modified and clean label starches as well as potato flakes and granules Emsland Group occupies a special position within the snack market. To continue to expand the leading position for flake production, the Group has invested 25 million euros in a new flake plant at the production site in Hagenow. The investment in four state-of-the-art, new-generation roller dryers with an additional amount of 24,000 tons of flakes per year will get integrated into the infrastructure of the Hagenow site.
Besides this, Emsland Group invests in rheological measurement of snack pallet mixtures. The Farinograph provides the R&D-Team of the Emsland Innovation Germany with a measurement device for rheological research into various doughs. These findings can help snack customers to control or adapt the processes and equipment in the diverse manufacturing processes of extrusion and also the process of forming the dough.
Furthermore Emsland Group optimizes the new development of Empure® AKJEL 200. Mainly used in baked snacks with a much lower fat content then traditional potato snacks, Empure® AKJEL 200 can also be used in nut coatings with excellent processing properties. Emsland Group’s Empure® AKJEL 200 is a pregelatinized, clean label starch applied as an universal binding, thickening and texturizing agent in many food applications, especially for snacks. In combination with Empure® KF clean label flakes the products of Emsland Group allows the customers to be in the comfortable situation to be able to manufacture clean label snacks.
