The GreenTec Award is considered Europe’s greatest environmental prize, and is presented to outstanding projects that help to maintain our environment and make it more livable. Among other things, the GreenTec awards honor projects promoting responsible use of water, resulting in improved preparation of drinking and industrial water, and contributing to the treatment of waste waters or any other improvement to water development.
In selection of the best environmental projects of 2016, the Emsland Group has been chosen as part of the top 3 nominees.
In the category of ‘Water & Sewage,’ the Emsland Group, together with the Wolfsburg sewage plants, has convinced the expert jury with their project Pea starch – natural polymers for sewage sludge stabilization.
Up to now, the Wolfsburg sewage plants have used synthetic polymers for sludge dewatering which were, however, banned with the fertilizer ordinance in 2017 for use in further agricultural recovery of the sludge. For future sludge recovery in agriculture, starch-based polymers have been examined with our innovative Emfloc pea starch and have proven successful at the Wolfsburg sewage plant.
The Emsland Group is continually expanding its environmental management unit and creates natural, starch-based flocking agents based on renewable resources from the region, among others in this area.
Our latest innovations will also be presented at this year’s IFAT in Munich. At stand A3.322, our experts will stand next to Stockmeier Holding GmbH.
With its nomination for the GreenTec award, the Emsland Group continues on its course for success with another major project, reflecting the corporate philosophy ‘using nature to create.’
