Being closer to the markets also brings cultural understanding and the flexibility to respond to trends and expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-aab596c0aa9a6132689d09d31718c11a\" style=\"color:#4f6294\"><strong>Adapting Global Expertise for Local Markets<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ad39be1767567a90dc0b99f81cb8d45d\">The Bangkok Application Team serves as a supporting arm to the Innovation Center in Emlichheim. While the foundational know-how comes from Germany, Bangkok\u2019s experts translate these concepts into applications that resonate with the Asian markets \u2014 where preferences for texture and sensory experience differ greatly from those in Western regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-064752294f2709ae332bffc72f6a800b\"><strong><em>\u201cWhether it\u2019s confectionery, snacks, or noodles, every country in Asia has its own preferences,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> says Jillean Pangan, Managing Director Emsland Asia Pacific. <strong><em>\u201cOur Bangkok team has the advantage of being close to the customers and understanding these differences firsthand.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8bfa529f9c3789586aa73ead6a0b3f3f\">Despite its small size, the Bangkok team is rich in <strong>expertise and resources<\/strong>, collaborating closely with a nearby research university for trials and a professional chef for culinary testing. This spirit of collaboration and knowledge-sharing results in <strong>tailored, high-quality solutions for customers<\/strong>. A recent example of this was showcased in Bangkok at the Food Ingredients Asia 2025 where innovative bakery concepts \u2014 <strong>potato bread with tom yum filling<\/strong> and <strong>spinach bread <\/strong>\u2014 both made using <strong>Emsland Group potato flakes<\/strong> and developed in partnership with the local chef, attracted strong interest and positive feedback from visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-6b3501533ac1d84d201fbc7ce43ec4f7\" style=\"color:#4f6294\"><strong>Customer Support from Start to Finish<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e68bfb0821dd68ca19d8817681f1ca84\">In Singapore, the customer service team works on the front line, while backend support is provided by colleagues in Emlichheim. Together, they ensure smooth processes \u2014 from order placement to delivery. Jillean first joined Emsland Group in 2017 as a Sales Manager \u2014 one of only two employees in Singapore at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-74e9783371235de1cf38743ce872365d\">Originally from the Philippines and educated in Food Science and Technology, Jillean had previously worked for a distributor of Emsland Group products.<em><strong> \u201cI had just finished my master\u2019s degree, which included studying food identity across Europe, when I was contacted about my future plans,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> she recalls. <em><strong>\u201cI knew Emsland Group as a company where people stayed for many years and truly believed in what they were doing \u2014 so I decided to give it a chance.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-eec1ded9cf58e14da2dd15c14d8e6934\">Although the Emsland Group will celebrate its 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of business in Asia next year, Jillean Pangan has witnessed remarkable growth and transformation since she joined Emsland Asia Pacific. Guided by what she referred to as \u201cvaluable mentorship from colleagues in Emlichheim, Germany,\u201d Jillean has played a key role in expanding Emsland Group\u2019s presence across the Asia-Pacific region. Her vision for the team was to move a more proactive approach \u2014 anticipating customer and market needs rather than simply responding to them. Now, as Managing Director, her focus is on strategic growth \u2014 strengthening cooperation between Singapore, Bangkok, and Emlichheim, while continuing to develop local competence and business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-d79b702d27bd0dd03ca43801bfa2625e\" style=\"color:#4f6294\"><strong>Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a0189fa848de04536c054bea591b176e\">Under Jillean\u2019s leadership, her teams are working ever more closely with their colleagues in Germany.
